TITLE: PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN / AMBULATORY DEPT: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH BAND: TEC L3 JOB CODE: 06060 SCOPE OF POSITION: Assumes responsibility for case management/coordination for an individual patient or group of patients. Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team serving child, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients in an ambulatory psychiatric setting. Reports to the Clinical Services Manager, Program Coordinator or designee. RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates alone, or with a cotherapist, in various psycho-therapy groups, including activities, educational recreational and community milieu treatment groups or programs. Participates in treatment services which include case management, treatment planning, discharge planning and treatment coordination. Maintains accurate, professional documentation of appropriate information as required by hospital policy, Joint Commission, state and federal standards. Assists in maintaining patient and program safety and security at all times. Participates in ongoing clinical supervision and program Quality Assurance activities, and assumes an active role in educational development. Responsible to obtain insurance information and eligibility as required. Utilizes computer system to schedule/organize appointments. Performs all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to interact with child, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric psychiatric patients with tact and confidentiality. Ability to effectively communicate with peers and other health care professionals. Ability to work well as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated working knowledge of major psychiatric illnesses as well as individual, group, and family therapy dynamics. Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures. Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility. Ability to tolerate stress associated with hostility, abusive language and disordered conduct encountered with patients and families in crisis. Bachelors Degree in psychology, sociology or related human services field. One year experience in human services field preferred
