The Department of State Hospitals - Coalinga is now accepting applications for multiple Retired Annuitant Psychiatric Technicians (Safety) positions. In accepting employment as an retired annuitant, the employee agrees to comply with the minimum work requirements and scheduling parameters determined by your supervisor. You may be moved to another work location during your shift according to facility needs.
All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 20, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is California Association of Psychiatric Technician (CAPT), subject to 5% in salary reduction, accruing approximately 3-5 hours of PLP each month.

Working Conditions
The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and TB test or whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job functions.
Alternate schedules may be available based on current staffing needs Maximum of 960 hours per Fiscal Year (July 1 - June 30) There are multiple vacancies for this classification. Positions filled may be assigned to any shift on any program.
