The ideal candidate will provide antepartum care, routine gynecologic services and primary care in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, General Division and Maternal Fetal Medicine Division.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Serves in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, General Division and Maternal Fetal Medicine Division. Will function broadly within the specialty of OB/GYN, caring for both high and low risk patients in a clinic environment.
  • Works with medical assistants, health care assistants and unlicensed support staff.
  • Manage advanced-practice OBGYN patients & clinic including, but not limited to well-woman care/annual exams, obstetrical and gynecologic problems, routine prenatal care and testing, and some primary care problems.
  • Assesses the physical condition of a group of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
  • Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on patient's condition.
  • Consults with physician(s) regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
  • Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
  • Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care. Initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
  • Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
  • Manage follow-up and patient care, triage calls, review lab data, review and prepare client EMR for each clinic day, assist in patient care, bill and code for services, via in person or phone calls for patients in both the Maternal Fetal Medicine and the General Divisions in the Department of OBGYN, and/or in tertiary clinics outside of the hospital (ex: Madsen Women's health clinic), messaging or other methods as appropriate through telephone, Epic, Outlook, pager or other means of messaging.
  • Works closely with support staff (MA's, healthcare assistants, Immunization nurses, and externs) in clinic, provide leadership and assistance to medical students, and residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Preferred

Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.

Utah State prescriptive privileges.

Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.

UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
