The Child Care Provider supports the implementation and coordination of a high-quality, Texas-licensed child care program by providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care and facilitating planned child activities for children ages 0-4. Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Support and Child Activities
- Plan for lessons using the district-provided curriculum and materials, following the guidance of the Child Care Director and Early Childhood Department.
- Prepare materials to support daily developmental activities for children using the district''s established activity plans.
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities for children, including but not limited to early literacy and math, social-emotional learning, creative arts, music, and play-based learning experiences.
- Observe and monitor children's play activities.
- Coordinate and maintain daily classroom routines and activity schedules to support a structured and engaging environment.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom, including organizing and storing toys, materials, and personal items belonging to children.
- Maintain cleanliness of furniture, equipment, toys, and linens in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with assigned staff to support daily classroom activities and routines.
- Distribute snacks while ensuring safe food-handling practices for children.
- Assist the Child Care Director with maintaining administrative records for required reports.
- Participate in child care meetings and special family events, as assigned.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job performance and meet state child care licensing standards.
Child Supervision and Care
- Supervise children to ensure their safety and security in the classroom, on outings, and to and from outside play areas.
- Ensure children are actively supervised at all times in accordance with licensing standards and program expectations.
- Assist children with physical care needs, including feeding, diapering, toileting, walking, and standing, as needed to support the classroom environment.
- Notify the Child Care Director of any special needs, concerns, or problems related to individual children.
- Observe and document developmental progress of children.
Safety
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques while performing job duties, including safe lifting and climbing practices.
- Follow child care and district safety and emergency protocols.
- Seek and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and food handling certifications.
