Proto Lab Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Prototype Server Technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of pre-production (PROTO) server systems in a lab environment. This role works closely with engineering teams to ensure system functionality, reliability, and readiness for production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and configure prototype servers
• Perform hardware validation testing (CPU, memory, storage, GPU)
• Troubleshoot system failures and conduct root cause analysis
• Execute test plans and accurately document results
• Update and flash BIOS/firmware using iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller
• Support engineering teams with system bring-up and debugging
• Install and configure operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, ESXi)
• Replace and rework hardware components (motherboards, DIMMs, drives)
• Maintain lab inventory, tools, and test equipment
• Follow ESD handling and lab safety procedures at all times

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with server hardware or data center technology
• Strong knowledge of: BIOS configuration and firmware updates
• Familiarity with: Dell iDRAC
• Comfortable working in a lab/testing environment

Hands-on experience using diagnostic and troubleshooting tools

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with prototype or pre-production hardware
• Basic knowledge of: Networking (VLANs, NIC configurations)
• Familiarity with GPU-based systems (AI/ML servers)
