Responsibilities:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Proposal Writer to join our team to support proposal development. This role requires a skilled communicator who can work independently, think critically, and contribute quality written content in a fast-paced environment. The qualified candidate will be required to support proposal development in either an in-office or virtual environment, including regular use of video conferencing (camera-on when required) and maintaining close, proactive communication with team members through digital collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, email, phone).
Key Responsibilities:
Proposal Support (Primary Focus):
- Write and edit proposal content with attention to technical accuracy and persuasive messaging, including RFPs, RFIs, white papers, and other proposal-related documents as required
- Write and edit to evaluation criteria (Section M) and customer priorities/hot buttons, ensuring messaging aligns to stated assessment factors
- Assist in developing past performance narratives, resumes, and management volume content
- Assist the orals coach in oral proposal preparation (script development, speaker notes)
- Apply and enforce proposal style guides and templates (voice/tone, terminology, acronyms, and formatting standards) for consistency across contributors
- Format proposal documents to ensure professional presentation and compliance with submission requirements
- Maintain disciplined version control and configuration management practices (file naming, check-in/check-out, controlled drafts) to reduce production risk and rework
- Contribute to the proposal library and reusable content repository
- Support the Proposal Manager with coordination tasks, such as meeting invites and data call tracking throughout the proposal lifecycle
- Review and refine proposal materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with customer requirements
- Collaborate with capture managers, subject matter experts (SME), program managers, and business line leads to ensure accuracy of the technical response
- Participate in and support color team reviews (e.g., Pink/Red/Gold), including incorporation of reviewer comments, adjudication support, and action-item tracking to improve proposal quality and compliance
- Leverage AI tools to enhance proposal quality and efficiency
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the proposal and tracked opportunities
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Business, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in proposal or technical writing
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with proposal tracking and SharePoint workflows
- Familiarity with compliance matrix development and use in developing compliant content
- CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) awareness
- Strong critical thinking skills with ability to work independently toward task completion
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities
- Ability to work with SMEs and translate technical input into clear, customer-focused proposal narrative
- Strong organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and adopt AI tools for workflow enhancement
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and meet tight deadlines
- Must be U.S. a Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Shipley or APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) methodologies
- Experience with federal government proposals
- Familiarity with proposal development processes and compliance requirements
Bonus:
Experience with graphic design software, including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
