Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate Accounting

We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role is responsible for full-cycle property accounting, including financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and tenant-related accounting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional with an interest in real estate and property management financials.

As both owner and builder, they develop, construct, lease, and manage their own properties with a strong focus on quality, accountability, and long-term value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts, tenant ledgers, prepaids, fixed assets, and balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain general ledger activity and journal entries
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Process rent rolls, tenant billing, and CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Partner with property managers to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare year-end audit schedules and support external audits
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies
  • Support and maintain property accounting systems (MRI, Sage 300 CRE, etc.)
  • Research and analyze tenant and property-related transactions
  • Assist with ad-hoc accounting projects and reporting
What We’re Looking For
  • 0–3 years of accounting experience (commercial real estate experience preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE and/or MRI software preferred
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, general ledgers, and reconciliations
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)
