Job Overview - Property Accountant - 34331

The Property Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of commercial, residential, or mixed-use properties. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, budget management, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The Property Accountant works closely with property managers, asset managers, vendors, and tenants to support the financial performance of assigned properties.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and journal entries for assigned properties.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, tenant billings, and collections.
  • Monitor property budgets, analyze variances, and assist with forecasting and financial planning.
  • Partner with property management teams to ensure accurate lease accounting and expense tracking.
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to process improvements and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Over 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, or commercial real estate.
  • Experience managing multiple properties and financial reporting responsibilities.
