Position Description
Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a proactive, hands-on Project Specialist to support facility and grounds operations across our parks, community spaces, and administrative sites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, takes pride in high-quality work, and thrives in an active, outdoor environment.
As a member of the Operations Special Projects team, youll play a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of Precinct 4 facilities. You will work both independently and alongside skilled trades teams, field crews, and volunteer groups. Professionalism, initiative, and a strong commitment to public service are essential.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate small-engine machinery and learn to operate large equipment such as tractors and backhoes.
Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and clearing debris.
Prune, remove, or maintain trees and shrubs, including managing deadfall.
Maintain grounds cleanliness by collecting litter and natural debris.
Clean and sanitize public restrooms, empty trash receptacles.
Use blowers and pressure washers to maintain trails, sidewalks, and outdoor structures.
Support landscaping activities such as planting, mulching, weeding, and irrigation installation/maintenance.
Load, unload, and transport equipment to various project sites.
Complete basic repairs to fences, gates, walkways, bleachers, walls, and similar structures.
Paint interior and exterior surfaces including buildings, pavilions, offices, and parking lots.
Assist skilled trades staff with a wide variety of construction and maintenance tasks (welding, concrete/asphalt, roofing, cabinetry, HVAC installation, plumbing, etc.).
Support daily maintenance operations as directed by the Operations Division.
Set up and take down equipment for community and departmental events.
Operate and troubleshoot audio/visual equipment for events.
Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on scheduling needs.
Support operations during emergencies or disasters as required.
Represent Precinct 4 professionally when interacting with the public and enforcing park rules

Texas Department of Agriculture Agricultural Applicator License (preferred).
Texas Irrigator License (preferred).
