The Project Specialist will plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific projects assigned. The Project Specialist may work closely with GreenWood Leadership and field managers, as well as the client and vendors to ensure the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and supported for success. A key expectation is to identify and implement strategies that drive measurable cost savings without compromising quality.

Position Responsibilities - Essential

  • Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures; support the safety program for the department; create a safe culture to sustain safety standards for all maintenance technicians

  • Establish solid accountability and proficiency standards for all staff and develop the current maintenance group into a fully functional, world-class operating team

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and review all aspects of a project including determining time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, including, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects

  • Responsible for overall quality and management of major projects or programs

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements

  • Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining project quality

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting notes, decisions, and action items

  • Archive project documents upon completion

  • Assist with general industrial training for all technicians [DS1] [JS2] Use a computerized maintenance management system to track and collect data and to create management reports as needed for planning and effectiveness evaluation

  • Direct leadership accountability and oversight of mechanical, electrical, electronic and instrumentation crafts; supervisory staff and supplementary third-party resources

  • Participate in review of overall plant performance measures

  • Coordinate with site leadership to ensure performance standards are met

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and one-on-one meetings with maintenance team

  • Support customer meetings and plant initiatives

  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities

  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a "safety-sensitive" position

Position Responsibilities - Non-Essential/Other

  • Manage parts and materials as required for project management
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, PMP certification or equivalent experience and education

  • Greater than 5 years of industry experience and previous leadership experience in manufacturing required

  • Strong work ethic with proven ability to support a positive team environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders

  • Experience in leading and managing complex projects including contractor and vendor coordination

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to execute projects on time and on budget

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work in a small team setting

  • Good computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)-SAP and report writing

  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to assist with maximizing employee performance

  • Strong understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital

  • Knowledge of the following trades: Electrical, Electronics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Fluid power, Mechanical, HVAC (chillers, boilers, vessels, tanks, liquid distribution), Variable Frequency Drives, Fabrication, Welding (MIG, TIG, stick, gas cutting), Facilities Maintenance, Robotics

  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
