Job Posting: Project Manager (Municipal / Transportation Engineering) Edwin Hancock Engineering Company Westchester, Illinois Position Title: Project Manager for Municipal and/or Transportation Engineering Experience Level: 5–10 Years Employment Type: Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in municipal and/or transportation engineering and a strong technical background in hydrology and hydraulic (H&H) modeling of sewer systems, to lead and manage infrastructure projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring high-quality deliverables for public-sector clients. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, design, and delivery of municipal and transportation engineering projects. Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality to meet client expectations. Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders, including municipalities, regulatory agencies, and contractors. Prepare and review technical reports, plans, and specifications. Oversee permitting, public engagement efforts, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling for projects analyzing sanitary, storm, and combined sewer systems with familiarity with PCSWWM, Hydroflow, or equivalent. Experience completing a Location Drainage Study or Technical Memorandum for a project involving Fed/State funding. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff. Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 5–10 years of experience in municipal and/or transportation engineering project management. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months. Demonstrated experience with roadway, storm, and sanitary utility improvements, water/wastewater, and infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of regulatory permitting processes and municipal standards. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
