Saunders Staffing Agency is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead linear transportation-related drainage and stormwater projects. This is a hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) designed for a Civil Engineer with a strong background in VDOT standards and a passion for managing multidisciplinary teams.
As a Project Manager with our clients team, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from scope and budget development to stakeholder communication and technical quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership: Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets for complex drainage and stormwater modeling projects.
Technical Execution: Develop project-specific plans, cost estimates, and reports; prepare complex stormwater models and oversee design milestone submittals.
Team Management: Coordinate internal team members and subconsultants; provide continuous performance management, coaching, and mentorship.
Client & Stakeholder Relations: Build strong relationships with clients to ensure project requirements are met; prepare progress reports and review invoices.
Business Development: Assist leadership with the marketing process, including proposal development and shortlist interviews.
Compliance: Ensure all staff and project deliverables comply with established quality control policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience: 8+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience.
Licensure:Virginia PE license (Professional Engineer) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Industry Knowledge: Proven experience with VDOT and locally administered VDOT transportation/infrastructure projects.
Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Bentley products (MicroStation and ProjectWise), Microsoft Office, and SharePoint.
Soft Skills: Strong communication and mentorship abilities with a track record of delivering concurrent projects on time.
Preferred Skills
DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control or Stormwater Plan Reviewer certification.
Experience with 1D or 2D PCSWMM Modeling.
Familiarity with various delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3).
Established relationships with local county or state-level clients.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Environment: 95% general office environment; 5% field work which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
Physical: Occasional standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed during field visits.
Travel: Periodic travel is required for site visits and client meetings.
