WHY THIS ROLE

Los Alamos National Laboratory's TA-55 is one of the most technically demanding and mission-critical nuclear facilities in the world, and the Project Manager 3 / Manager Construction 3 is the person who keeps construction moving safely and successfully within it. This is a senior field leadership role with real authority: you'll own construction execution, direct site teams, manage subcontracts, and serve as a Control Account Manager responsible for cost, schedule, and technical performance on assigned projects.

If you're a construction management professional who thrives in complex, regulated environments and wants to do the most consequential work of your career supporting national security missions, this is that opportunity. Per diem is available for qualifying candidates.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and manage all construction execution activities for assigned LANL projects at TA-55 - strong onsite and field presence required
  • Review construction estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, and costs for acceptability; review specifications and drawings for economic constructability
  • Direct site managers and construction personnel; monitor performance, quality, and technical adequacy across field teams
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Design Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and other functional departments to establish and maintain priorities
  • Participate in resolution of problems involving staffing, material delivery, and contract/subcontract administration
  • Serve as Control Account Manager (CAM) - plan, budget, manage, and control cost and schedule performance for assigned project or subproject
  • Perform variance analysis; determine cause and effect of schedule or cost variances; define achievable corrective action plans
  • Present project management performance plans, status updates, trends, and issues to federal sponsors and senior management
  • Ensure appropriate field procedures, safety protocols, and project training programs are in place and being followed
  • Participate in proposal preparation, project planning, and scheduling by providing expertise on construction methods, equipment, labor, and productivity
