This position requires being onsite at our Alexandria office 5 days a week. The ideal candidate must be comfortable being available 24/7/365 to respond to urgent and time-sensitive issues, as needed.
About the role:
We’re seeking a Project Manager, Infrastructure Delivery to lead the end-to-end delivery of new infrastructure projects and major capital maintenance programs in the North American market.

Day-to-day, you will:
Independently execute day-to-day design and construction activities for assigned civil infrastructure and capital maintenance projects from inception through close-out, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Prepare comprehensive contract documents (i.e. Statements of Work, technical requirements, specifications, etc.) and manage the administration of these agreements, including analyzing and approving invoices and evaluating contractor change orders.
Perform site and technical assurance tasks to verify contractor performance, serve as the Operator’s representative to provide final technical approval, and manage the preparation of accurate handover documentation (i.e. asset data, drawings, Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals, etc.).
Identify project-related risks, implement robust mitigation strategies, and champion a safety-first culture on-site to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
Manage the technical interfaces between external design and construction contractors, consultants, and internal Transurban teams, including but not limited to, Operations, Commercial, Customer & Technology, Development, to ensure seamless execution.
Implement the Transurban Project Delivery System to track project costs, develop accurate forecasts, and provide regular, comprehensive status reports to senior management.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
5+ years’ experience in the civil infrastructure or construction industry, with at least 2 of those years in a project management or contract administration role, preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of project management best practices, including cost management (i.e. budgeting, tracking, forecasting), schedule control, and risk mitigation.
Proven experience in contract administration, including managing third-party design and/or construction vendors, drafting specifications, and negotiating change orders.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence outcomes, and build trusted relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders (i.e. VDOT, community groups).
Professional Engineering (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, preferred, along with familiarity with design-build and Public-Private Partnership (P3) models.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field is preferred, or a relevant trade qualification combined with equivalent, proven technical experience in a utilities or roads environment.
