Description:

Are you an experienced project management professional who thrives on leading complex projects, building strong partnerships, and delivering results that make a lasting impact? Otter Tail Power is seeking a Project Manager II to help drive the successful execution of transmission infrastructure projects that support reliable energy delivery for the communities we serve.

In this role, youll take ownership of large-scale transmission projects or manage multiple concurrent projects from development through construction, commissioning, energization, and project closeout. Youll collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, lead project planning and execution efforts, manage budgets and schedules, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and successfully.

This position will report to Manager Project Portfolio.

What Youll Do

As a Project Manager II, you will:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of transmission projects from concept through completion.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee project development activities including permitting, public outreach, right-of-way acquisition, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and operational turnover.
  • Develop and maintain project dashboards, risk registers, and progress reporting tools.
  • Monitor project financial performance, analyze variances, and support cost recovery efforts.
  • Ensure project quality through strong QA/QC practices and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to support project success.
  • Facilitate communication with project stakeholders, leadership teams, co-owners, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of project management experience with demonstrated success managing projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, tools, and methodologies.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, resources, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management software.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed and successfully manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working on electric utility, transmission, energy, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating diverse stakeholder groups and managing complex project environments.
  • Knowledge of permitting, construction management, procurement, and regulatory processes.
