We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Manager to join our Facilities Engineering Services organization in Rancho Bernardo, CA. As part of the Project Implementation team, this role focuses on delivering medium to large construction projects that support critical infrastructure for our defense, aerospace, laboratory, and manufacturing operations.


The Construction Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project execution, with a strong emphasis on budget and schedule performance. The successful candidate will be organized, an effective communicator, and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.


Projects are located throughout Southern California and require local and occasional overnight travel. Reliable personal transportation is required; mileage reimbursement is provided.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


+ Reviews, develops, and presents data for facility modifications based on customer needs.

+ Manages project budgets, including forecasting, change order evaluations, and funding justifications.

+ Collaborates with internal architecture, engineering, and maintenance teams to define scope, specifications, costs, and schedules.

+ Coordinates with external vendors to develop design drawings and execute construction work.

+ Plans and sequences construction activities and trades using in-house labor and external vendors.

+ Oversees and supervises on-site construction activities.

+ Leads stakeholder reviews to ensure scope aligns with project objectives.

+ Conducts value engineering and identifies opportunities for improvement.

+ Partners with procurement from RFP development through project closeout.

+ Develops and maintains project schedules from initiation through completion.

+ Leads and/or participates in OAC, internal project update, scheduling, project controls, and lessons-learned meetings.

+ Uses project management software and tools to track schedule and budget.

+ Prepares, maintains, and presents project records and reports.

+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:


+ Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and at least six years of progressively complex experience in project administration. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

+ Must demonstrate an extensive understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management, with the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.

+ CCM and/or PMP certification desired.

+ Experience as a superintendent or construction manager desired.

+ Experience utilizing SAP or equivalent financial management software desired.

+ Strong understanding of MEP systems (for example, low and medium voltage distribution, process piping, humidification systems) highly desirable.

+ Experience with cloud-based construction management platforms (for example, Procore or equivalent) required.

+ Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.

+ Proven ability to perform in a high-pressure environment, including strong negotiation and relationship-building skills and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.

+ Must possess:

+ The ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects.

+ The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop solutions to a variety of non-routine matters of diverse scope and nature.

+ Strong analytical, communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

+ The ability to work independently and to lead in a team environment.

+ Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
