Our client is a top ENR rated General Contractor in Columbus that has been in business for over 70 years. Their longevity has allowed them to put the proper team infrastructure in place and establish efficient and replicable processes. They have a focus on multi-family, Healthcare, and Higher Education projects, but work in several other market sectors as well. This firm is working on some of Ohio's most prominent and high profile projects. Description

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Provide project leadership and establish, implement and support a proactive project safety culture
  • Manage the development and review of bid packages to procure competitive subcontract proposals
  • Manage job-site subcontractor meetings to ensure that the project goals are met
  • Review monthly invoices and oversees documentation and approval needed to ensure timely funding for the project
  • Lead the management of cost reporting including but not limited to contracts, purchase orders, and scope revisions to achieve defined project goals
  • Ensure overall financial health of the project and project forecasts
  • Represent our client in the subcontract negotiations
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants throughout all project phases
  • Oversee project startup, execution, and closeout processes
  • Monitor jobsite activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and cost overruns
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure quality control standards are consistently met on all projects
  • Lead internal project team meetings and provide clear direction to field staff
  • Track and manage procurement of materials and long-lead items
  • Resolve field issues and conflicts in a proactive and timely manner
  • Prepare and present project status updates to senior leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Support business development efforts through client interaction and repeat work opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and best practices

Profile

The Construction Project Manager will have:

    • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems
    • Experience with healthcare, life sciences, or medical office building (MOB) projects preferred, including knowledge of ICRA protocols
    • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex construction documents, including drawings and specifications
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all project stakeholders
    • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.) is a plus
    • Solid understanding of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
    • Ability to manage multiple projects or priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and safety regulations
    • Experience coordinating with field teams, superintendents, and subcontractors
    • Familiarity with contract management and subcontractor agreements
    • High level of organization, accountability, and leadership capability
    • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
