Job Title: Project Manager (General)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee the management and execution of construction contracts and work orders. This role requires direct supervision and leadership of project teams, coordination with other Project Managers, and close monitoring of Superintendents and Foremen. The successful candidate will prepare and develop project work proposals, negotiate change orders, and serve as the primary administrative point of contact for project owners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee management and execution of construction contracts and work orders.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to project teams.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Project Managers as needed.
  • Monitor performance of Superintendents and Foremen on assigned contracts.
  • Prepare, develop, and collaborate on project work proposals.
  • Negotiate change orders and resolve financial disputes with owners.
  • Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for project owners.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the project scope of work.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain detailed project cost reports.
  • Document, manage, and negotiate project changes impacting schedule or contract costs.
  • Develop and implement field quality assurance and quality control plans.
  • Partner with Superintendents to develop and enforce project safety plans.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with MBE/WBE subcontracting requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to EEO and Affirmative Action contract requirements.
  • Ability to travel locally as required.
  • Report to various assigned job sites and work locations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or a minimum of seven years of relevant construction experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and oversee personnel concurrently.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of construction subtrades, project design, cost reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, drawings, and applicable contract documents.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software, including Microsoft 365, HCSS, Sage, and Bluebeam.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience managing Job Order Contract (JOC) projects preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of employees, customers, and stakeholders.

Work Environment

The role operates Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, or as needed to meet business needs. The position is split between the office and job-site visits, primarily around the greater Chicagoland Area. The candidate will have their own desk and setup in the office located in a corporate park in Rosemont, with close proximity to various project locations. Flexibility and willingness to commute to different sites are essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $76.92/hr.
