Job Title: Project ManagerJob Description

The Project Manager oversees groups of solar tracking projects from purchase order execution through commissioning, ensuring safety, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction. Based primarily in Fremont, CA, this role manages cost, scope, schedule, and contracts across multiple projects in the Western, Mountain, and Central United States. The Project Manager provides technical support to customers, coordinates logistics and supply chain activities, manages project financials, and serves as the internal advocate for customer needs while contributing to product development, sales, and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for personal safety and share responsibility for the safety of all staff, contractors, and visitors on project sites, applying a strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles and safety management.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all company policies and procedures related to projects and operations.
  • Manage groups of projects from purchase order execution through commissioning, taking ownership of all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Oversee project cost, scope, schedule, and contracts for multiple concurrent projects across the Western, Mountain, and Central United States.
  • Provide best-in-class technical support to customers, offering product and systems expertise for photovoltaic solar tracking systems and associated tools.
  • Develop and maintain a strong technical understanding of PV solar tracking systems and related tools to support project execution and customer needs.
  • Ensure a high-quality customer care experience by clearly communicating resolutions to customer issues and maintaining ongoing customer relationships.
  • Coordinate the ordering of tools and ensure that tools and training are available for all assigned projects.
  • Manage project profit and loss, including revenue forecasting, invoicing, cash flow, and cost management.
  • Provide customer field support for installation and quality control, including driving resolution of quality issues through Non-Conformance Report and Construction Deviation Report processes.
  • Coordinate and drive the successful on-time delivery of all products from purchase order to delivery, working closely with design engineering, supply chain, logistics, freight forwarders, and customers.
  • Track parts and components arriving from global suppliers, ensuring accurate tracking of deliveries and alignment with project schedules.
  • Monitor and track design changes, monthly billings, and contract obligations, and communicate impacts to internal teams and customers.
  • Establish, measure, and report key performance indicators for customer care to influence behavior, improve performance, and support continuous improvement.
  • Play a key role on cross-functional product teams, providing recommendations based on systems integration expertise and customer feedback.
  • Support product development, sales, and marketing activities as requested, contributing project and customer insights.
  • Act as the internal voice of the customer and advocate for customer needs within the organization.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, professional presentations and updates to a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborate effectively with external customers, engineering, supply chain, logistics, and other internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Travel to project sites 3 to 7 times per year for project kick-off meetings and site-related activities, primarily within the assigned regions.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably in energy, construction, mining, or oil and gas projects.
  • Proven experience managing cost, scope, schedule, and contracts for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong project management skills and formal project management qualifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing project teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience working directly with external customers in a project or customer support capacity.
  • Experience interfacing with supply chain, procurement, and logistics functions.
  • Experience handling customer support and operations and maintenance (O&M) issues.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on delivering a high-quality customer experience.
  • Passion for solar or renewable energy and an interest in contributing to the renewable energy sector.
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) technology and its applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for project tracking, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint for preparing and delivering stakeholder presentations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with photovoltaic tracking solar systems is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a strong advantage.
  • Experience supporting product development, sales, and marketing teams is beneficial.
  • Ability to establish and report on key performance indicators related to customer care and project performance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when tracking parts, design changes, and monthly billings.
  • Ability to travel 3-7 times per year for project kick-off meetings and site visits, primarily within the West Coast and assigned regions.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based onsite in Fremont, CA, with an expectation to work in the office four days per week, Monday through Thursday. The work environment centers around large-scale renewable energy projects, particularly solar tracker installations, involving regular collaboration with engineering, supply chain, logistics, and field teams. The Project Manager works with modern office tools and project management systems, including Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP platforms such as NetSuite, while coordinating activities across multiple time zones. Travel to project sites is required approximately 3 to 5 times per year, primarily on the West Coast and within the Western, Mountain, and Central United States, for project kick-off meetings and site coordination. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.50/hr.
