Project Manager - Environmental Site Remediation

My Client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful planning, execution, and delivery of environmental remediation and environmental construction projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing project safety, schedules, budgets, client relationships, subcontractors, and regulatory compliance while ensuring projects are completed efficiently and profitably.

The company specializes in soil and groundwater remediation, dewatering and mobile groundwater treatment systems, hazardous waste handling, underground storage tank removals, industrial decontamination, emergency response services, and environmental site restoration throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Description

Project Management & Leadership

• Manage environmental remediation and environmental construction projects from award through final closeout.
• Develop project execution strategies that align with client objectives, regulatory requirements, and company goals.
• Lead project teams including field supervisors, environmental technicians, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Establish project schedules, staffing plans, procurement strategies, and budget forecasts.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to maintain project performance.

Financial Management

• Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor labor productivity, material costs, equipment utilization, and subcontractor performance.
• Review and approve invoices, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orders.
• Ensure projects achieve financial targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Manage project billing, collections, and cost reporting activities.

Environmental Remediation Oversight

• Manage remediation projects involving:
  • Soil and groundwater remediation
  • In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)
  • In-Situ Stabilization/Solidification (ISS)
  • Dewatering and groundwater treatment systems
  • Excavation and off-site disposal
  • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling
  • Underground storage tank removals
  • Industrial decontamination
  • Emergency environmental response services
  • Site restoration and environmental construction activities.

Client & Regulatory Coordination

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, environmental consultants, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.
• Lead progress meetings and provide regular project updates.
• Coordinate permitting, reporting, inspections, and remediation documentation.
• Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
• Oversee project compliance with OSHA, HAZWOPER, environmental regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct project safety reviews, inspections, and incident investigations as needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved work plans and environmental permits.

Contract Administration

• Review contracts, specifications, remediation plans, and technical reports.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, and project documentation.
• Coordinate procurement activities and subcontractor management.
• Lead project closeout activities, final reporting, and client turnover documentation.

Profile

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of project management experience in environmental remediation, environmental construction, heavy civil, industrial services, or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of environmental remediation practices and construction operations.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and client relationships.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Project.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with soil and groundwater remediation projects.
• Knowledge of NJDEP, PADEP, EPA, and applicable environmental regulations.
• HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification.
• Experience managing hazardous waste handling and disposal operations.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or other project management software.
