Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager / Environmental Industrial Hygienist to join our Industrial Hygiene team. This is a client-facing role for someone with a strong foundation in industrial hygiene and environmental consulting who can support project execution, client service, and technical field activities across a variety of engagements.
 
In this role, you will anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and help control workplace environmental hazards across industrial, commercial, and healthcare environments. You will support project delivery, perform field assessments and environmental monitoring, and collaborate with senior staff on technical and regulatory compliance initiatives.
This position is well suited for individuals who want to continue building their technical industrial hygiene and consulting experience while developing project management and client-facing skills within an established and growing consulting practice.
 

Core Responsibilities

Work Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members

  • Support industrial hygiene projects from scoping through execution and reporting 
  • Conduct exposure assessments, investigations, and sampling activities 
  • Assist with development and implementation of sampling strategies based on project scope and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Evaluate workplace environments for chemical, physical, and biological hazards and assist in recommending appropriate control measures 
  • Support occupational health and safety (OSH) compliance initiatives, including in healthcare environments 
  • Assist with healthcare-related consulting services, including infection control risk assessments (ICRA), ST-108 compliance, and Joint Commission readiness initiatives 
  • Support physical environment consulting for healthcare facilities, including regulatory and accreditation-related assessments 
  • Perform environmental monitoring activities, including air, noise, and water sampling, and support water quality and Legionella risk management programs 
  • Apply knowledge of asbestos, lead, and mold in support of inspections, sampling activities, and coordination of remediation or abatement projects 
  • Support communication, coordination, and deliverables for assigned client projects 
  • Prepare technical reports, field documentation, and project deliverables 
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to support existing clients with additional services 
  • Collaborate with senior staff and support junior team members during field activities and project execution 
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, project records, and deliverables 
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally, with occasional national travel, including overnight or extended assignments as needed

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or a related field, and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or 5 years of related work experience and no degree.
  • Experience supporting industrial hygiene projects and field investigations 
  • Strong understanding of industrial hygiene principles, exposure assessment, and sampling methods 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements 
  • Experience with industrial hygiene instrumentation (air sampling pumps, noise dosimeters, direct-reading instruments) 
  • Knowledge of asbestos, mold, indoor air quality, and water quality assessments 
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings to clients 
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a client-focused environment 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data management tools 
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) interest or progress toward certification 
  • Experience supporting healthcare environments and regulatory compliance initiatives 
  • Experience with water quality programs, including Legionella risk management and ST-108 implementation
  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification and medical monitoring in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 
  • Asbestos, lead, and/or mold-related certifications (e.g., inspector, risk assessor, or applicable state certifications) preferred 
  • Experience supporting project coordination, field teams, or junior staff mentorship

The pay range for this role is:
$79,000.00 - $216,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)
$73,000.00 - $198,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier B - Sample Locations: Baltimore, Chicago, Anchorage, Portland)
