Position Summary
The part-time Project Manager, CE is responsible for coordinating and supporting the successful implementation of civic engagement initiatives, voter education campaigns, and community outreach activities. This position ensures projects are executed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals by managing timelines, coordinating internal teams and external partners, tracking deliverables, and supporting community engagement efforts.

The ideal candidate is an organized project manager with experience coordinating community-based initiatives, civic engagement campaigns, or nonprofit programs. You will be highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and passionate about advancing civic participation and social justice. The position includes office-based work as well as regular community outreach, with evening and weekend hours required to support events, trainings, and community activities.

Role Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Implementation

  • Coordinate the planning, execution, and tracking of civic engagement projects, ensuring deadlines and project milestones are met.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, work plans, and implementation schedules.
  • Support the execution of voter education, voter registration, and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for phone banking, canvassing, volunteer engagement, and community outreach activities.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates, risks, and solutions to leadership.
  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and operational processes.
Community & Partner Coordination
  • Coordinate communication with community organizations, coalition partners, consultants, and vendors.
  • Schedule and organize meetings, coalition convenings, community conversations, and planning sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining strategic partnerships that support civic engagement priorities.
  • Support outreach efforts that strengthen relationships with community leaders and volunteers.
Event & Volunteer Management
  • Coordinate logistics for civic engagement events, trainings, workshops, political education sessions, and community forums.
  • Support volunteer recruitment, scheduling, onboarding, and communications.
  • Assist with event planning, vendor coordination, materials preparation, registrations, and post-event follow-up.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Track project metrics, deliverables, and community engagement outcomes.
  • Assist with voter engagement data management using voter databases such as VAN, PDI, or similar systems.
Administrative Support
  • Maintain organized project files, calendars, budgets, and meeting documentation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication among staff, contractors, and community partners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be capable of working effectively with diverse communities of color and identities, families, and historically underserved communities.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project coordination or project management experience, preferably in a nonprofit, community-based organization, government agency, advocacy organization, or civic engagement environment.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience supporting community outreach, volunteer engagement, or public-facing initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel throughout San Joquin County as needed
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, trainings, or community convenings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and project management software (Asana, Monday.com, Trello, or similar platforms).
  • Experience working with databases and reporting systems; familiarity with voter databases (VAN, PDI, or similar) is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate well with teams.
  • Commitment to civic engagement, equity, and social justice.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
