Job Summary:

  • As the Project Manager at Metro Elevator Kansas City, Inc., you will report directly to the division President. This position will play a key role in the division's day-to-day operations. The Project Manager's job responsibilities include scheduling, planning, and preparing various tasks while maintaining a strong focus on organizational excellence and customer relations. This position requires a proactive individual who excels in time management and possesses computer proficiency to enhance overall productivity and operational effectiveness. Management experience required and elevator experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Project and Scheduling Management

  • Manage the scheduling of modernization and fulfillment of contractual requirements.
  • Support field installation teams to ensure all necessary material and tooling is available as needed to meet/exceed project schedule.
  • Report on performance to estimate elevator repairs and distribute to appropriate parties as needed.
  • Enter and open purchase orders, track error status and accrual clean up, and resolve vendor issues.
  • Follow and accurately manage existing/new modernization projects, and occasional new installation projects, to ensure efficient and profitable closure.
  • Interface with the VP of Operations to track job progress and coordinate completion dates, with an action plan if changes are necessary.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and confirm that projects are invoiced and paid.
  • Review and book projects, ensuring financial viability before award.
  • Provide similar support as outlined above for repair projects when modernization backlog/responsibilities allow.

Safety and Compliance

  • Support the team in tracking safety protocols including monthly minutes, accident filing, and coordinating follow-up on safety testing requirements.
  • Perform iPhone Application system data management for project tracking and compliance.

Financial Oversight

  • Ensure that material and labor costs align with monthly targets.
  • Manage customer billing, including tracking sales/margin, assisting in inventory review and cleanup.
  • Seek change notice opportunities, prepare change order paperwork, and ensure timely customer follow-up.

Inventory and Warehouse Management

  • Organize warehouse audits, inventory, and shipping related to projects under your oversight.
  • Coordinate and follow up with vendors, field teams, sales personnel, and leadership team on the delivery of project material to ensure readiness prior to project start dates.

Communication and Leadership

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for effective expectation setting and relationship building with internal and external customers.
  • Comfortable in a technical environment, utilizing Microsoft-based computer software.
  • Display strong leadership skills, be goal-oriented, with robust time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, capable of managing multiple simultaneous projects and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of management experience in the elevator industry.
