HR Investigator

Position Overview

Epitec is seeking an HR Investigator to support the largest global U.S. automaker in Chicago, IL. This role is responsible for conducting complex employee relations investigations across multiple shifts while maintaining strict confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance in a union manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate workplace complaints raised through internal company channels

• Manage the full investigation lifecycle, including:

  • Case file preparation

  • Drafting interview questions

  • Interviewing complainants, witnesses, and persons of interest (POI)

  • Typing employee statements in real time

  • Writing and maintaining investigation summaries

• Track, maintain, and safeguard confidential investigation documentation

• Balance employee advocacy with company policies and values

• Support salaried personnel as needed

• Support all applicable health and safety requirements

Experience Requirements

Required:

• 5 or more years conducting complex employee relations investigations

• Experience interviewing complainants, witnesses, and accused employees

• Full case management and disposition experience

• 2 or more years using Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred:

• Manufacturing and/or unionized environment experience
• Experience typing statements as employees speak
   

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree required

Employment Details

• W2 Contract – Long?Term

Schedule & Shift Requirements (Critical)

Primary Schedule:

• Monday – Friday (Day shift opening)

• May require split shifts with a start time of approximately 1:00 PM

Flexibility Required:

• Must be open to all shift times

• At least one day per week will require a split shift

  • Typically includes approximately 4 hours into the night shift

• Schedule flexibility will be discussed and confirmed during the interview process

Plant Crew Structures Supported:

A Crew

• Monday – Thursday

• 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (30?minute lunch)

B Crew

• Tuesday – Friday

• 6:00 PM – 4:30 AM

C Crew (Hybrid)

• Friday & Saturday: Day shift, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Sunday & Monday: Night shift, 4:30 PM – 6:30 AM

***The HR Investigator must be comfortable supporting all crews as needed.
