About the Job

Cityside Fiber is seeking a motivated Project Estimator to join our New Market Development team. This role is responsible for coordinating early-stage fiber design efforts and creating accurate high-level budgets for right-of-way, HOA, and commercial development projects, and plays a key part in screening, prioritizing, and advancing prospective developments into the pipeline with strong financial and operational alignment. This position reports to the Program Manager for New Market Development and collaborates closely with Engineering, Construction, and Sales to translate market leads into financially viable project opportunities. Success in this position requires financial acumen, fiber-to-the-home knowledge, and strong task management skills, along with the ability to operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess inbound and proactively sourced opportunities (PUD, HOA, commercial) for fiber deployment potential by developing high-level preliminary fiber network layouts
  • Utilize software applications and design tools to maintain quality records and produce prospecting deliverables
  • Create detailed project cost estimates for fiber deployments, including labor, materials, network equipment, permits, and restoration
  • Leverage GIS data, field inputs, construction benchmarks, and historical project costs to inform estimates
  • Coordinate and lead field surveys and site walks, incorporating field intelligence into early-stage design and cost assumptions
  • Work closely with market development, sales, engineering, finance, and construction teams to align on assumptions and statuses, adjust strategies, refine opportunity assessments, and secure cross-departmental approvals
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure estimates align with design standards and network architecture
  • Provide insights that help prioritize markets, neighborhoods, and developments for expansion
  • Prepare and present summary-level and detailed designs, budgets, or reports for executive and project stakeholders
  • Assist the Project Management Office in setting and evaluating project timelines and pipeline projections, and coordinate scheduling with appropriate teams
  • Contribute to a culture of trust, integrity, and collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, financial analysis, and design for telecom, utilities, or infrastructure planning, including field surveys and both inside and outside plant design and delivery
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with required proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to use GIS and prospect mapping tools for fiber design, ROI calculation, and data management
  • Proven expertise in budget creation and management, cost analysis, and reporting
  • Deep understanding of the telecom and fiber deployment lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task and be highly responsive to internal and external clients
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial and performance data to executives and field teams with actionable insight
  • Proven ability to operate in complex, cross-functional workflows with multiple stakeholders
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure
