As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Survival and Thermal Systems section of the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract. Possible straight‑time overtime and a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) are anticipated.ResponsibilitiesDevelop project documentation and maintain status of drawings and procurements.Work with the systems engineering team to ensure the test strategy provides sufficient information on system performance and capabilities.Inspect hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawings/models.Build up test rigs and equipment as needed.Perform all system testing.Develop test plans and test reports.Schedule testing with test facilities.Develop a test schedule in coordination with the systems engineering team.Work with procurement personnel and vendors to order and secure procurements.Analyze test results.Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation.Develop test procedures and work with various organizations across JSC for flight certification of hardware.Collaborate with the community, specifically the HLS program and the HLS provider, to develop integrated operation conops.Develop presentations.Develop logistics, manufacturing and procurement plans.Work in a team environment and report to the project manager and the lead systems engineer for status updates, issues and support.Perform other duties as required.QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 10–15 years of related experience.Experience with the development of project planning documents.Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware systems.Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.Experience with cost and budget analysis.Experience working in an integrated product team.PreferredFamiliar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.Prior experience working in a system development project/program.Familiarity with feasibility assessments and trade studies.Understanding of the Moon2Mars mission and concept of operations.Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.All qualified candidates will receive consideration for all positions without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or other non-merit factors.#J-18808-Ljbffr
