Our client is seeking a Project Engineer with experience in project-level operations and contract administration. This role supports the Operations Director and works closely with O&M Contractors and FDOT to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
Support the Operations Director in managing O&M Contractor relationships and coordination.
Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract requirements, O&M plans, and quality standards.
Oversee contractor inspections and field coordination with FDOT.
Lead use and optimization of the Asset Management System, including data integration and asset condition tracking.
Support lifecycle planning, budgeting, and renewal work scheduling.
Facilitate site discussions and conduct site visits as needed.
Address day-to-day operational and maintenance inquiries.
Contract Administration
Administer O&M contracts, including performance tracking, compliance monitoring, and formal correspondence.
Support evaluation and management of change orders and additional scope requests.
Review contractor reports and prepare summaries, presentations, and updates for leadership and stakeholders.
Maintain and update the Project Risk Register, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
Contribute to monthly and board-level reporting.
Support future procurement and administration of renewal works and O&M services.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
Ensure compliance with all HSE and quality standards.
Monitor contractor safety and environmental performance.
Serve as on-call representative for major incidents or emergencies.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
3–5 years of experience in highway design, construction, or maintenance (including structures, drainage, pavement, ITS, and bridges).
Experience in contract administration, including change orders and cost estimation.
Strong technical knowledge with the ability to conduct site inspections and collaborate with field teams.
Proficiency in MS Office and asset/data management systems.
Preferred:
Experience with DOT (preferably FDOT) projects.
Familiarity with asset management tools (e.g., MMIS, ArcGIS).
Understanding of lifecycle maintenance and P3/project company environments.
Risk management experience.
