SummaryProject Engineer, under the general supervision of the Division Director, organizes and manages public work capital improvement projects including water, wastewater, street, drainage, and rail. Reviews land development and improvements to public infrastructure, including water, sewer, streets, and drainage facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees the technical and engineering aspects of assigned projectsActs as contract administrator for assigned projectsMeets to plan and budget projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and ordinancesProvides team leadership, technical support related to construction inspection, supervises engineering inspectors and field crew as neededOversees workload distribution between inspectorsResolves issues that may arise in the field or during plan reviewOversees CIP projects as assigned (including RZ CIP projects)Recommends projects for City capital improvements program consistent with master planAssists in development of project budgets; reviews and monitors budget throughout the yearIdentifies and evaluates long-term infrastructure needs in commercial, private, and public development within City limits and ETJ areaReviews development plans flood plain applications in compliance with Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance and associated State / Federal criteriaProvides land development review services including attending public meetingsProvide updates and gives presentations at City, Commission, or Board meetingsProvides engineering services for written statements, reports, letters, and citationsFollows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related fieldFour (4) years of civil engineering experience

Certifications and Licenses

Valid driver's licenseCurrent Texas Professional Engineer License or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire
