About the Role

We are seeking a Project Engineer with proven structures experience to help deliver the Hawke's Bay Expressway. This role has responsibility across planning, delivery, cost, and leadership for bridge and structural works on a major transport project.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to keep the job moving safely, efficiently, and to plan. This is a role for someone who enjoys owning outcomes, thinking ahead, and leading teams through complex construction stages.

• Lead planning and delivery of structural and bridge works on the project
• Develop and manage short to medium term programmes and work packs
• Manage subcontractors, resources, and sequencing to meet programme targets
• Monitor costs, forecast to complete, and manage task budgets
• Provide technical guidance and support to Site Engineers and supervisors
• Maintain strong standards across safety, quality, and environmental controls

What You'll Bring

You combine solid engineering judgement with a practical, people-focused approach and enjoy being accountable for outcomes.

• A tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
• Experience as a Project Engineer on structural or bridge projects
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, temporary works, and construction sequencing
• Confidence leading engineers, foremen, and subcontractor teams
• Proven planning, cost control, and risk management capability
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
