IMEG is hiring a Project Engineer in Los Angeles, CA, to lead structural design efforts for low‑ to moderate‑complexity projects and support the delivery of larger, more complex work alongside senior staff. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide structural engineering solutions and client‑focused guidance for buildings and other structures, including analysis, design, and implementation oversight. You'll also help manage project budgets, mentor less experienced staff, and collaborate across teams to achieve project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materialsUtilize engineering software and tools to prepare detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standardsInteract with clients to understand project requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong professional relationshipsSupport the execution of consulting projects as part of a project teamLead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities to meet deadlines and objectivesDocument design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress related to percent complete and fee expendedAnalyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultantsPerform in‑process reviews of structural designs, calculations, and specifications and implement IMEG quality control processesStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEGPrioritize safety, act ethically and professionally, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, identify project issues, and support project delivery through bidding, design, and construction administration phasesRequired Qualifications And SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, requiredMaster's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structuresAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffProficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem‑solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficiency in the use of BIM softwareProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work‑life balance, and meaningful impact.
