This role offers hands‑on experience supporting project managers and superintendents in all phases of construction project delivery on diverse commercial, institutional, and other projects throughout the Chicago area.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Administration & DocumentationManage and coordinate all submittal processes in accordance with project schedules and specificationsMaintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, change orders, ASIs, and meeting minutesReview and distribute project drawings, specifications, and updates to all stakeholdersGenerate and manage punch lists to ensure quality standards are metAssist with project budgeting and preliminary cost estimatesPerform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimatesSolicit and evaluate bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliersReview and verify subcontractor extra work orders for quantities and unit pricingScheduling & CoordinationDevelop, maintain, and update project schedules using construction management softwareMonitor project progress and identify potential scheduling conflictsCoordinate construction materials and equipment delivery to maintain project timelinesTechnical & Field SupportResearch and resolve drawing interpretations, conflicts, and interferencesConduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and qualityEnsure jobsite safety protocols and accident prevention measures are maintainedCollaborate with superintendents, project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendorsQualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and 1-4 years of construction-related experienceStrong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building materialsProficiency with construction management software (Procore, Primavera, or similar)Excellent organizational and communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuitePreferred:Previous construction internship or co‑op experienceFamiliarity with Chicago building codes and regulationsExperience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar technical softwareOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationWhat We OfferCompensationCompetitive salary (commensurate with experience)Annual discretionary performance bonusComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company match & annual profit sharingPaid time off and holidaysProfessional development and mentorship opportunitiesCollaborative, family-oriented work environmentPowers & Sons Construction is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
