You will coordinate activities across engineering, test, manufacturing, vendors, and leadership to ensure aligned execution of projects, while maintaining clear visibility into schedules, risks, budgets, and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project engineering support for the Polymeric Materials Group, with a focus on raw material supply chain changes and obsolescence management.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional integration efforts across engineering, test, manufacturing, vendors, and leadership to ensure aligned project execution.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to review project status, evaluate daily work steps, and challenge timelines and assumptions when needed.
  • Maintain project trackers and documentation to ensure accurate visibility into scope, schedule, risks, and budget.
  • Manage project schedules using Microsoft Project and other tools, ensuring milestones and deliverables are clearly defined and met.
  • Monitor and communicate project risks, issues, and dependencies, and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Provide budget visibility and tracking for assigned projects, supporting cost control and forecasting activities.
  • Prepare and distribute notifications, updates, and reports to stakeholders to keep all parties informed of progress and changes.
  • Coordinate logistics such as shipping, materials movement, and other operational support required for project execution.
  • Work 1:1 with engineers and technicians to understand the steps they use every day, suggest alternative approaches, and optimize workflows.
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to discuss timelines, constraints, and trade-offs, and help align expectations.
  • Utilize SAP and other enterprise systems to support materials, scheduling, and project tracking activities.
  • Apply agile project management principles to improve responsiveness, transparency, and collaboration across teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Polymeric Materials Group, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency, safety, and durability in product design and manufacturing.

Essential Skills

  • 4-7 years of relevant project engineering or project coordination experience (P3-P5 equivalent).
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Hands-on experience with agile project management methodologies in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project for creating, managing, and tracking project schedules and milestones.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems to support materials, scheduling, and project tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, test, manufacturing, vendors, and leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining clear visibility into schedule, risks, and budget.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and collaborate 1:1 with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders.
  • Capability to analyze existing workflows and daily work steps, and to propose alternative approaches or process improvements.
  • Solid understanding of materials science or polymeric materials concepts sufficient to support engineering discussions and decisions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred for candidates with a research and development focus.
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing environments is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with raw material supply chain management and obsolescence planning is an advantage.
  • Background in safety and durability considerations for complex mechanical systems, such as commercial or military engines, is helpful.
  • Comfort working in both hands-on and analytical project roles, with the ability to be an individual contributor or informal leader as needed.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within engineering or technical career paths, including professional career tracks for those with four-year degrees.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Work Environment

This role operates within a highly regarded, STEM-focused engineering organization recognized as a top employer in its region. The work directly influences how commercial and military engines are designed and manufactured for safety and durability, offering a meaningful impact on critical products and systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians in a professional, technically rigorous environment where project teams can be hands-on, run complex initiatives, and pursue a variety of growth opportunities. The organization supports multiple career paths for technical roles, including dedicated growth tracks for individuals with two-year technical degrees and a professional career path for those with four-year degrees. During the contract period, employees receive six paid holidays and accrue one week of paid time off per year, and consultants may be eligible for unemployment benefits during year-end or holiday closures. Overtime is available at an enhanced rate for hours worked over 40 per week, offering opportunities to supplement earnings. The environment emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and exposure to advanced technologies used in engine design, manufacturing, and materials engineering, while maintaining a standard professional office and lab setting appropriate for engineering and technical work.
