A leading NYC general contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of public sector design-build projects across the five boroughs. This role will work closely with PMs, field teams, and design partners to coordinate fast-paced, compliance-driven construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Description

  • Support Project Managers on design-build public works projects (MTA, SCA, DASNY, etc.)
  • Coordinate between architects, engineers, consultants, and field teams
  • Track RFIs, submittals, design revisions, and change orders throughout construction
  • Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and procurement of materials
  • Review drawings and ensure alignment between design intent and field execution
  • Help manage project documentation, logs, and reporting
  • Support coordination of inspections, permitting, and agency compliance requirements
  • Participate in project meetings, coordination calls, and site walkthroughs
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final documentation
  • Identify coordination issues early and help drive resolutions

Profile

A successful Project Engineer should have:

  • 1-10 years of experience with a GC or CM (Project Engineer / APM track)
  • Experience on design-build or design-assist projects strongly preferred
  • Exposure to public sector or agency work in NYC (MTA, SCA, DASNY ideal)
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, and coordination workflows
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, and project documentation processes
  • Highly organized with strong communication skills across design + field teams
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
