Project Engineer | Des Moines, IA

The Waldinger Corporation is looking for a motivated Project Engineer to join our Electrical Construction team in Des Moines. This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on project experience, mentorship from experienced Project Managers, and a clear path for growth in a stable, established company.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll get real exposure to how projects actually come together — from planning through execution — while working alongside experienced engineers and managers who will help you build your skills.

  • Project Planning & Coordination: Help develop and implement project plans and schedules, submit RFIs, manage documentation, and coordinate resources to keep deliverables on track.
  • Engineering Support: Perform technical calculations and evaluations, review drawings and specifications for accuracy, and provide guidance to field personnel on construction methods.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor build quality and materials, conduct inspections and audits, and help resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Cost Control: Track project costs against budget and help identify opportunities for savings.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Work directly with project teams, subcontractors, and clients — building the relationship and negotiation skills that drive career growth.
  • Client Network Building: Grow your professional network through client events, industry conferences, local associations, and PM mentorship — setting you up for long-term success in the field.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
  • 0–2 years of experience in construction, engineering, or a related field — new grads welcome!
  • Willingness to travel moderately
