Client Details

My client is a close-knit midsize general contractor in the Columbus Area. They have been around for almost 5 decades and created a very reputable name for themselves. They specialize in ground-up Commercial, Healthcare, Education and more project types. Projects are typically in the $1-20 Mil range. They are looking to grow more into the Commercial market and want a senior leader to join their team to help with the expansion. Description

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Oversee all phases of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Lead project planning, including scope definition, procurement strategy, and resource allocation
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, delays, and cost overruns
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards
  • Review and negotiate contracts, change orders, and subcontracts
  • Manage subcontractor performance, including scheduling, quality, and productivity
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure alignment with plans
  • Prepare and present project status reports to clients and senior leadership
  • Resolve project issues, conflicts, and disputes in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change management logs
  • Drive project closeout activities, including final inspections, punch lists, and turnover documentation

Profile

The successful Project Manager will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management is plus)
  • Project Management 3-5+ years preferred
  • Experience with a General Contractor
  • Conceptual Estimating experience
  • Communication skills and can wear many hats
  • Microsoft Suite Software Proficient
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building systems, and project life cycles
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and subcontractor performance
  • Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, consultants, and field personnel
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contractual documents
  • Skilled in risk management, problem‑solving, and strategic decision‑making
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, MS Project)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross‑functional teams
  • Strong negotiation skills with vendors, suppliers, and trade partners
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and documentation practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
  • Knowledge of state/local building codes, permitting, and compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting site walks, progress inspections, and safety assessments
  • Capable of building strong client relationships and ensuring high satisfaction
  • Adaptable and proactive in resolving conflicts or unexpected project challenges
