Title: Project Engineer 
Location: Berkeley, Missouri

Salary Range: $75-80/hr on w2
Contract: 6+ months, possible extension

Introduction

We are part of *** Material & Process Technology (M&PT): *** Defense Systems Team, creating and implementing innovative technologies that make the impossible possible and enabling the future of aerospace. We are engineers and technicians, skilled scientists, and bold innovators. The St. Louis Area Component Engineering Team is seeking to hire a Senior Skilled Project Engineer with over 10 years of experience in Obsolescence Management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, integrated circuits, etc.) and how to research alternate components using data sheets and other Internet resources
  • Strong evidence of ability to work as part of a team and familiarity with the idea of working within a hierarchical organization
  • Good writing and communication skills in addition to a focus on attention to detail
  • Understanding the concept of obsolete parts and evaluating alternate parts
  • Ten (10) or more years' experience in managing obsolescence management projects
  • Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
  • Experience in Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) expert role
  • Experience with Aircraft and Weapons design/requirements

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering knowledge of electrical and electronic components in evaluating alternate replacements of obsolete parts
  • Conducts proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using Component Monitoring and Surveillance Tools, Predictive Obsolescence Systems, OEM/Supplier surveys, etc.
  • Develops obsolescence mitigation possibilities and business case analyses supporting recommended resolution options
  • Helps prepare customer contractual deliverable plans and required reports
  • Supports Project Management of obsolescence mitigation processes within Product/Program IPTs
  • Assists programs in identifying and mitigating obsolescence risk
  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
  • Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules
  • Supports proposal development and estimation, and leads project execution by identifying activities, resources, and events required to complete the work statement
  • Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity. Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned
  • Provides technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
