    Project Engineer – Westwood Professional Services, Inc.Location: Appleton, Wisconsin or Madison, Wisconsin.OverviewWestwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Aviation service team in Appleton, Wisconsin or Madison, Wisconsin. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of diverse roadway design experience and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with an energetic aviation staff on a range of projects, including airport planning, airfield layout and design, safety plans, airfield civil design and construction, facilities design and infrastructure, and environmental studies. Westwood's Aviation group's projects require preparing civil engineering and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) planning reports, studies, and plans for large, complex projects in a timely and proficient manner to support client success.ResponsibilitiesWork as a key member of a design team under the direction of various Project Managers. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:Work with a team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexityPrepare plan documents and supporting design calculationsPrepare detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3DProduce high quality work and implement and maintain quality assurance proceduresOversee the technical aspects of various projectsCoordinate with other disciplines, support services and subconsultantsCoordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agenciesCoordinate with Clients depending on project roleIdentify applicable codes, standards or other design requirementsPrepare technical specifications and cost estimatesPerform field reviews and other assessments for use in designParticipate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittals and RFIsRepresent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agenciesDevelop and track milestones to ensure on‑time and on‑budget deliveryMake decisions independently in regard to various issues and methodsPrioritize and manage own workloadMentor, train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnelEnsure division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey serviceLead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalismRequired SkillsWorking knowledge of aviation planning, programming, design and construction is a plusPreferred candidate will have working experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and an understanding of Bureau of Aeronautics policies and proceduresOutgoing, friendly, approachableExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal skillsStrong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet project deadlinesDetail‐oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProficient in Autodesk Civil3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office applicationsProficient in the use of national design standards (MUTCD, AASHTO, etc.)Proficient in applying ADA/PROWAG criteria in public infrastructure designCompetent technical skills required to complete engineering tasksAbility to delegate assignments and determine methods and proceduresQualificationsBS in Civil EngineeringLicensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin (or capable of obtaining within 6 months)3+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering preferredEqual Employment OpportunityWestwood provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
