Responsibilities

- Assume selected project management responsibilities, including participating in client and consultant meetings and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate projects from initial design through construction administration, ensuring continuity, quality, and adherence to project goals.
- Develop project documentation requirements based on research, discussions with the Project Manager, principal-in-charge, lead designer, and client interviews.
- Develop creative and technically sound solutions to complex client architectural requirements and needs.
- Collaborate closely with the design team to develop the overall project design that responds to the client's budget, schedule, and vision.
- Provide technical insight on materials, systems, and design options that can improve project performance, constructability, or cost effectiveness.
- Oversee the assembly of complete technical documentation, including drawings and specifications, in accordance with firm standards for all project phases.
- Oversee the compilation and maintenance of the project product manual that records design decisions and product selections.
- Lead a team of technical staff as part of the project team to develop project technical documentation requirements and solutions for assigned projects.
- Interface with structural, mechanical, electrical, and other consultants to coordinate documentation in a timely manner and ensure alignment of all disciplines.
- Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings and specifications with architectural drawings and specifications, meeting with engineers as needed.
- Articulate the integration of architecture and engineering with the full A/E team, including the specifications group, to produce cohesive construction documents.
- Prepare code analyses for assigned projects and review documents for compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Perform construction administration tasks, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and preparing document modifications as required.
- Define and describe the required document set to project team leaders to facilitate the development of milestone schedules for contract documents.
- Complete code analysis and verify that all documents comply with applicable codes and regulations.
- Develop work plans for the document team, delegate tasks among assigned staff, and monitor documentation efforts to meet allocated hours and budget in the project plan.
- Provide documentation milestones for incorporation into the overall project schedule and ensure documentation is completed on time.
- Lead and direct the documentation team, including both internal staff and consultant team members, to achieve established milestones and quality standards.
- Report weekly documentation progress to the Project Manager and identify submittals that require review during construction administration.
- Review and approve elements that diverge from contract documents during construction administration, and assist with document modifications as needed.
- Ensure the quality of drawings and specifications, including coordination with consultants and execution of details consistent with design direction and intent.
- Incorporate quality assurance review comments into the documentation and assemble record documents at project completion.
- Input final project space allocations into the project journal or equivalent record at the end of the project.
- Assist in quality control reviews and apply knowledge of local and state building codes, notifying the team of potential conflicts or issues.
- Support new business development by participating in proposal and interview processes as needed.
- Assist in the development and presentation of materials, drawings, and models in support of business development and client presentations.
- Take on special projects and additional duties as assigned or requested to support the broader goals of the practice.
