Project Administrator
We are a utility contractor specializing in the installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems for municipal and commercial clients throughout the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. With multiple crews in the field and a substantial backlog of contracted work, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Administrator to support our growing operations.
This position combines office-based project coordination and financial reporting with regular visits to active job sites, typically within a 30-mile radius of Kernersville, NC. The ideal candidate will have prior construction industry experience and be capable of handling assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to advance into a Project Management role as the company continues to grow.
Applicants must reside within the local area and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day project management and project coordination activities
- Maintain project files, documentation, and electronic records
- Update and maintain job costing databases and reports with consistency and accuracy
- Track, investigate, and resolve job costing discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain project spreadsheets, reports, and schedules
- Support field supervisors and management with project-related administrative tasks
- Conduct periodic job site visits to assist with project tracking and field coordination
- Perform additional administrative and project support duties as required
Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction administration, project coordination, estimating, project management support, or related construction office functions
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with job costing principles and construction accounting processes
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
- Reliable, responsive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently
Preferred Experience
- Underground Utility Construction (Water Mains, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Lines)
Schedule
- 38-45 hours per week
- In-person position (7a-4p, M-F as a general rule) with weekly travel to project sites (within ~50 miles)
Compensation
- $28.00-$34.00 per hour
- Heavily dependent on experience and qualifications

- Handle tasks & responsibilities without constant oversight
- Work Efficiently in QuickBooks Desktop
- Build and maintain Excel tracking spreadsheets
- Understand construction operations and Blueprints
- Visit job sites and communicate effectively with field personnel, general contractors, and owners
- Potentially grow into a PM role
Qualified candidates should be prepared to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks Desktop, and construction-related administrative functions during the interview process.
