Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment

Assignment Details

  • Shift: Night Shift – 4x12 Hours
  • Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks
  • Location: Potsdam, New York
  • Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend

Patient Population

  • PCU and MS Telemetry patients
  • Surgical pre-op and post-op patients
  • ENT surgery
  • General surgery
  • Trauma surgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Overflow medical patients
  • Occasional pediatric patients (assigned only if experienced)

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Must have PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

Preferred Certifications

  • PALS
  • TCAR

Required Skills

Candidates should have experience with:

  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Telemetry
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Post-MI care
  • Cardiac drips and heparin protocols
  • IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line, PICC line, and peripheral IV management
  • Phlebotomy and IV starts
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Continuous bladder irrigation
  • Renal failure management
  • PCA pumps
  • Thrombolytic agents
  • CVA and seizure management
  • Substance withdrawal care
  • Orthopedic trauma and traction
  • Total joint replacements
  • Chest tube management
  • CPAP/BiPAP and HFNC
  • ABG interpretation
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Isolation precautions
  • Wound care and wound vac management
