The Workforce Education department supports low-income, unemployed and underemployed populations who need funding and support for education, assistance planning educational goals, and resources for finding employment. As part of Workforce Education, the Basic Food Employment & Training (BFET) program provides assistance with education and training costs at Shoreline Community College to eligible individuals currently receiving Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) Basic Food Assistance.
Under the direction of the Program Specialist 3, this position will manage the day-to-day BFET program operations and provide comprehensive support to students receiving Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) Basic Food Assistance. This includes determining BFET eligibility, identifying challenges to employment and educational goals and providing support to achieve success in their educational goals. This position implements state and federal program policies and facilitates specialized program activities.

Conditions of Employment
Physical Work Environment: The College provides services both online and in-person, and while administrators are primarily assigned to work on-campus, limited remote opportunities may be available based on specific program needs. For authorized remote work, employees are responsible for providing their own workspace and internet access, though the College provides all necessary technical equipment and support. Whether working in a standard office setting or remotely, this position involves sitting for prolonged periods at a computer workstation, utilizing repetitive arm and finger movements, and reading both printed and digital materials. Success in this role involves maintaining confidentiality and productivity in an open office environment characterized by frequent interruptions and competing demands. Additionally, the position requires the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, with the ability to attend meetings both on and off campus while communicating effectively through various professional means.
Terms Of Employment/Salary: This position is allocated to pay range 42, under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with a schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institutions definition of full time.
A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.
