Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work or a related field, or + A minimum of two (2) years of college level studies plus two (2) years of directly related experience working with low-income youth in an educational environment may be substituted for education requirement experience + Proven ability to provide direct service with students and families living in poverty + Ability to collaborate with educators and supportive community members/organizations to provide enriching opportunities for students of poverty + Ability to sustain pose and confidence in managing emotional and difficult situations + Ability to successfully provide case management in a collaborative team atmosphere + Ability to work with students with varying educational, social and economic backgrounds + Ability to manage reporting and documenting requirements + Ability to conduct home visitations with a wide variety of cultural backgrounds + Ability to develop successful student programs integrating academics and real-life experiences + Ability to work with collaboratively with counselors and monitor student academic history + Knowledge of local resources for low-income families + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Experience using Microsoft Office/Suite (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint) + Experience using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred + Willingness to learn new technology + Adept at utilizing technology to create reports to maintain, track and analyze student data from the Synergy Student Information System is preferred + Self motivated, with good organizational skills Other Requirements: + Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends + Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements + Ability to lift and move moderately sized objects up to 50 pounds Essential Functions: + Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times + Serve as a positive role model for students + Work in a flexible and cooperative manner + Contact students identified as dropout using a variety of methods + Once student is located, identify the student's barriers to success and provide educational options to student and family + Assist students and families with the enrollment process of the selected academic options + Assist in providing leadership and direction for students + Establish effective and supportive relationships with school administrators, team members and building staff + Knowledge of academic options provided by the district as well as those outside of the district + Serve as liaison between students, school staff, and the community + Create and implement strategic ways of locating students and providing them with academic options + Maintain updated student records and files. Ensure confidentiality of all records and files + Keep daily log of student contact + Inform families about academic options both within and outside the district + Facilitate Community Engagement Boards and Workshops + Conduct phone and email outreach to families of students experiencing attendance challenges + Partner with families and students to address underlying attendance challenges and develop strategies to prevent truancy + Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district. Benefits/Compensation: Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement. Time Off: Vancouver Public Schools offers paid holidays and paid time off, including but not limited to, sick, vacation, personal, and bereavement leave. + Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (part-time employee accrual will be proportionate to their FTE). + Personal Leave: 3 days per school year + Twelve (12) month full-time Pro Tech employees are eligible to accrue ten (10) days vacation at one (1) - five (5) years of service. The accrual days are incrementally improved by five (5) days at the completion of five (5), eleven (11) and twenty (20) consecutive years of service respectively.
