Summary:

The Program Manager Perinatal Services assists in developing and implementing perinatal nursing initiatives for the CHRISTUS Health System. Works with the Program Director and clinical leaders to lead the implementation of clinical strategies, policies, and practices throughout the CHRISTUS Health system. Guided by High Reliability principles, works to achieve nursing standardization, evidence-based practices, operational excellence, and optimal patient care performance. Assists in establishing effective strategies for service line initiatives, education and competency, physician collaboration, integration, outcomes, and resource utilization with the goal of increasing service line growth, efficiency, compliance, safety, and patient experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, communicating, and promoting strategic and tactical plans.
  • Promotes and guides the execution of perinatal initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource for clinical problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Implements strategies to improve patient safety and outcomes in perinatal care.
  • Uses data to drive decision-making and improvement efforts.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives within the perinatal department.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to perinatal care and implement strategies to ensure KPIs are on track. Provide support and direction to ministries when indicators are not meeting targets to ensure successful corrective action.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address areas of improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Develop detailed project schedules for assigned projects, mapping dates and resources to tasks. Monitor progress and manage approved deviations from the plan.
  • Serve as data liaison for service line and assist in developing data pathways for complete QAPI preparation and presentation.
  • Develop and implement effective written mechanisms to document and report on all projects and assignments' plans, priorities, schedules, and current status.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and training to ensure team members are focused, committed, and capable of producing expected results.
  • Assist in the standardization of Perinatal QAPI procedures throughout the System.
  • Communicate effectively with staff in oral and written form to facilitate understanding, ownership, and accomplishment of goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and good negotiating skills and promote teamwork; monitor team member feedback to ensure effective communication and understanding of organizational direction and expectations.
  • Monitor service line quality objectives, milestones, and benchmarks.
  • Develop and implement effective tools to measure performance against these standards and to document and regularly report on the status of projects and routine assignments.
  • Responsible for ensuring all core perinatal educational requirements meet the standard of care and best practice and are fully implemented in all ministries.
  • Guides appropriate utilization of education resources throughout the system.
  • Provide support and direction to ministries when educational programs and initiatives do not meet expectations and/or need enhancement.
  • Manage resource forecasting for training and develop strategies to fill any identified gaps.
  • Collaborate with clinical educators to assess and address training needs and develop educational programs for perinatal staff as needed.
  • Create and update educational materials and resources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of health care professional education and continuing education requirements.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical care processes across all nursing clinical disciplines in the continuum of care and demonstrated expertise in applying clinical technology to these processes.
  • Knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; Spanish is preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ of clinical experience in perinatal services.
  • Experience leading system initiatives.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • RN License in state of employment or compact is required.
  • Obstetric and Neonatal Quality and Safety certification (ONQS) is required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (C-EFM) required by six (6) months of hire.
