Operations Engagement (OE) is a team within Operations Business Support (OBS), part of Whole Foods Market"s Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) organization. We deliver an excellent customer experience by building confident and capable retail leaders through business acumen training, operational store support, and labor and scheduling optimization insights-empowering operators to make informed decisions that drive success across WWGS.

We partner directly with store operations and process teams, and operations finance to drive measurable improvements in store-level performance. Our portfolio spans store profitability support, new store openings, labor and scheduling optimization, and our Business Acumen program. We deliver results that directly impact Team Members and customers.

How we work: We believe simplicity drives results-if it"s not clear, we simplify it before sharing it. We own our decisions with confidence, act as advocates for operators, and speak up when we see opportunities to improve. We stay operationally fluent because our credibility depends on it, and we show up as one aligned voice that operators can trust and execute against.

About the Role

As a Program Manager II on the OE team, you will own programs end-to-end-from identifying performance gaps in store-level data to designing scalable solutions and driving execution across cross-functional partners. You will hold yourself and others accountable to measurable outcomes, operating with urgency and a high bar for quality.

This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You will translate complex operational challenges into clear, repeatable solutions-leveraging data, analytics, and diagnostic AI tools to develop actionable insights that inform store-level decisions. Success means building capabilities that outlast you and delivering results that operators can see in their day-to-day performance.

Key job responsibilities

Own and deliver operations engagement programs that drive measurable impact to store profitability, labor efficiency, and customer experience metrics

Dive deep into store-level performance data to identify root causes of operational gaps-staying operationally fluent in the tools and systems that drive store performance

Leverage AI-powered diagnostics and data-driven analytics to identify performance opportunities and deliver actionable insights that inform operational decisions

Identify and apply operational insights from both Amazon and Whole Foods Market to strengthen store performance and drive unified best practices across WWGS

Design and deliver acumen training programs that meet operators where they are-recognizing different experience levels and building capabilities that serve customers

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to provide clear, consistent direction operators can trust and execute-serving as one aligned voice across the organization

Lead complex projects from concept through delivery with confidence and urgency-making the call on two-way door decisions and escalating one-way doors for support

About the Company

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
