The Program Manager, under direction, provides advanced professional and specialized skills for planning, developing, implementing, and managing student programs, activities or services within the Department of Student Activities. The position oversees the advisement of organizations within the Texas A&M University Student Government Association within the Campus Engagement & Traditions team and supervises full-time staff.

What You Need To Know
Starting Salary: $65,000/annually.

Professional Development: May be eligible for up to $3,200/year of departmental funding for professional development opportunities and conference attendance.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five years’ experience in student affairs work or related specialty area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs or related field from an accredited institution.

  • Three or more years post-graduate experience in higher education, student affairs, or specific area(s) described in this position description.

  • Significant student group advising, leadership training, risk management, and supervisory abilities in the specific area(s) described in this position description.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to provide support for events to include carrying, lifting, and moving heavy objects; set-up/breakdown rooms; stand/walk for prolonged periods of time; interact with large groups and respond to needs of materials and equipment.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Advising – Student Government Association - Will provide direct and indirect advising support to senior student leaders for recognized organizations and committees within the Student Government Association. Provides administration support to a student group which may include, but is not limited to, leadership development, training and development for students and advisors, risk management activities, programming and logistics of events, recruitment and retention, evaluation of programs, adherence to policies and procedures including judicial processes, financial oversight including budgeting, marketing and communication for various constituent groups, vendor and donor relationships, student travel, technological resources, inventory management, document review, and other tasks as required by the group or department.

  • Area Operations – Campus Engagement and Traditions - Is responsible for operational aspects within the Campus Engagement & Traditions team. Duties may include but are not limited to inventory management, supporting team-wide assessment and strategic planning efforts for the area, and serving in a support/backup position for the Assistant Director. Responsible for program assessment, facilitation of SGA advisor/student leader training, curriculum development of the Leadership Academy program for CET student leaders, serving as support staff for CET programs, and stakeholder outreach.

  • Supervision - Directly supervise a full time staff member, as well as potential to indirectly supervise graduate students, student assistants, practicum students, and interns.

  • Program Administration & Oversight -Provide strategic oversight and administrative coordination for student organization advising and related programs. Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with institutional priorities. Monitor program effectiveness through assessment and data tracking, using insights to inform improvements and enhance the student organization experience. Coordinate advisor training, resources, and communication to support effective advising practices, and ensure risk management, fiscal responsibility, and event planning processes are followed across organizations. Collaborate with campus partners to streamline operations and strengthen program infrastructure.

  • Representative - Participate on university, division, and/or department committees and task forces.
