Help

  • Assistant Program Manager responsible for managing new systems through advanced development, production and fielding.
  • Assistant Program Manager responsible for managing new systems through fielded systems undergoing extensive modification, retrofit, or rebuild.
  • Assistant Program Manager responsible for managing new systems through specified categories of critical problem issues associated with one or more fielded systems
  • Develops plans for accomplishment of assigned projects.
  • Develops and establishes the controls necessary to manage internal operations, matrix support and the support of other command and agencies.
  • Establishes priorities, maintains and controls all project milestones and takes necessary action to ensure that all milestones are met or that workarounds are in place to counteract schedule problems.
  • Reviews and evaluates data relating to short and long term technical management, financial objectives and requirements to keep abreast of program progress and anticipated problems.
  • Manages and executive ability and thorough knowledge of the wide range of technical and business specialties used to plan and direct a systems acquisition program.
  • Coordinates system development plans, system product improvement plans and establishes design development objectives with users to ensure system aspects and capabilities are in consonance with user requirements.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Practitioner certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret- Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Drug testing: This position has been designated for drug testing. If you are selected for this position you may be subject to urinalysis testing prior to appointment and you will be subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
  • Must file an annual financial statement. This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience at the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service which includes: Led Army system acquisition programs through development, production, fielding, and major modifications; created and executed project plans while analyzing technical and financial data to monitor performance and resolve program issues; evaluated and approved contractor deliverables and configuration changes to ensure compliance; and translated program objectives into actionable requirements, assessing budget and policy impacts and briefing senior leaders on program status, risks, and recommended actions.

The Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy and Air Force) reporting to the Department of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally important components: the active component and the reserve components. The reserve components are the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

Regardless of component, the Army conducts both operational and institutional missions. The operational Army consists of numbered armies, corps, divisions, brigades, and battalions that conduct full spectrum operations around the world. The institutional Army supports the operational Army. Institutional organizations provide the infrastructure necessary to raise, train, equip, deploy, and ensure the readiness of all Army forces. The training base provides military skills and professional education to every Soldier—as well as members of sister services and allied forces. It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for the Army. Once those forces are deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed to support them.
