JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of a supervisor, provide instruction, supervision, and support for youth programming. Instructors will deliver engaging, structured activities while supporting program operations, safety, and scheduling.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provide instruction and training in assigned program areas Plan and lead age-appropriate activities and lessons Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organized program environment Assist with daily program operations, including attendance, scheduling, and activity setup Communicate effectively with participants, staff, and supervisors Follow all Recreation Department policies, procedures, and safety requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: • Arts & Crafts • Sports & Recreation • Dance or movement • Music or Drama • Cooking or nutrition • Science or STEM activities
Ability to engage youth in a positive and supportive manner. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience working with youth in an educational, recreational, or program setting preferred. Ability to work a flexible seasonal schedule. If the position is a seasonal/temporary position, it is not eligible for union benefits.
