Job Description
Radford University offers a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition, including an ACEND accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). The program is currently housed in the College of Education and Human Development with plans to transition to the Waldron College of Health and Human Services by 2030.
Position Summary
Radford University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Foods and Nutrition. The position may be appointed as Special Purpose Faculty or Tenure Track Faculty depending on the candidates qualifications and experience.
The faculty member will teach across the Foods and Nutrition curriculum and the ACEND accredited DPD program commencing August 2026.
Responsibilities
Administrative:
• Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters • Promote the program and enhance its visibility, recruit and retain students, and manage the day-to-day logistics of the program • Coordinate all aspects of the DPD, including admissions, progression, retention, and completion • Manage student records, including verification statements • Ensure the timely submission of accreditation reports, fees, curriculum updates, assessment data, and all required documentation • Supervise the process of maintaining ACEND accreditation • Maintain compliance with all ACEND accreditation standards
Faculty:
• Teach undergraduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and related areas • Advise and mentor students through academic and professional development • Provide academic advising • Provide opportunities for students, such as making special contributions toward establishing clinical programs, assisting, and supporting students in scholarly work (e.g., research, creative activities, presentations, and publications)
Scholarship and Professional Activities
• Engage in professional and/or scholarly activity in the field • Obtain or maintain licensure, certification, or similar credentials by accumulating continuing education units or credits
University Service
• Participate in service to the department, college, and university
Required Qualifications
Special Purpose Faculty
• Education: Earned Masters degree in Nutrition or closely related discipline • Experience: Minimum three years of professional experience post-credentialing • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Interested candidates must hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
Requirements for Tenure Track Faculty
• Education: Earned Terminal degree (Ph.D. or nutrition-related practice doctorate) • Experience: Minimum three years of professional experience post-credentialing • Experience in teaching college-level classes in traditional classroom and distance education format • Experience with research publications and other scholarly activity • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Interested candidates must hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of ACEND accreditation standards • Experience teaching at the collegiate level • Experience leading an accredited DPD program
