Job Summary
The Program Counselor for the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) supports student success in the Yonkers School District by providing academic counseling, mentoring, and social-emotional learning (SEL) development. This role delivers non-clinical counseling support through individual and group sessions, helping students build self-advocacy, organization, and goal-setting skills. The Program Counselor also promotes college and career readiness while ensuring increased student engagement, skill development, and progress toward academic and post-secondary goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic support, mentoring, and study skills development to students
- Facilitate small group sessions focused on social-emotional learning (SEL), conflict resolution, and goal setting
- Support students in developing organization, time management, and self-advocacy skills
- Conduct outreach and recruit students for participation in the program
- Introduce students to college and career pathways through workshops and enrichment activities
- Track and maintain attendance for student participation and program events
- Coordinate logistics for trips, workshops, and enrichment activities
- Conduct outreach to students and families to encourage consistent participation
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to support student needs
- Present program information to students, families, and school staff
- Attend and support occasional evening events such as parent-teacher nights, financial aid workshops, and college admission events
- Ensure all student data and documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted on time
