Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, independently serve as the program coordinator for the Department of Sociology. Provide a broad range of administrative support for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of general administration, graduate program, and curriculum support activities, as well as purchasing and accounts payable. Responsible for event planning, including scheduling travel arrangements and honorarium payments for guest speakers, catering and advertising. Provide instructional support for course instructors. Service as primary point of contact for Department of Sociology and back-up to Anthropology.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience coordinating events and meetings.
  • Skills to organize and prioritize work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and Maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading skills to prepare reports and Respond to emails including policies and procedures interpretation with attention to grammar and spelling.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to relate to a diverse Community of educators, students, support staff, Management and vendors.
  • Mathematical and Analytical skills to effectively Monitor and forecast budgets, interpret results and Compile budgetary reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administrative and financial support Experience in an Academic, higher education environment
  • Knowledge of UC policies and procedures as well as campus resources related to Accounting, budget, purchasing and contracts, grant Administration and HR issues.
  • Experience with Kuali financial system, Decision support, and AggieTravel.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
